A breeze flew through the open window into the dim lit room, fanning out the curtains that hung just above where the window was. Pulling her blankets around her closer, Flick turned around in her bed. Brown eyes cracked open slowly in confusion, unaware that her mother had been in the room not ten minutes early to open the window. It was a beautiful summer morning outside. Warm, as usual, but a cool morning breeze gave the impression that it was chilly. Anyone who fell for that would soon be proved wrong upon walking outdoors into the warm air of late July. Kicking off her sheets, she walked to the window and pushed open the material that covered them to see outside. It was around 9:30 and the sun was peeking in and out of fluffy clouds in the sky. In less then an hour the cool air would vanish and be replaced with the hot dry winds that were summers in Utah. Looking out the window she could see her stepdad below on the front lawn of their townhouse, playing with her two dogs. Smiling, she half pulled the curtains to cover the window again and walked to the bathroom.
After a quick shower, Flick made her way back to her room, cloaked in a big cotton towel and dressed in a pink flowy dress witha jean jacket over top, pink sandals and a long necklace. She figured it was best to bring a jacket though she expected she wouldn't need it on such a day. When she finished dressing, she dried and straightened her naturally curly locks, and made her way down the stairs to the main level of the spacious town home. From the bowl in the main hall, she grabbed a few different keys and hopped on our the door. "Dad, I'm going for a drive," she told her father as she passed him by. Both her dogs came over to greet her happily, and she showed a little love to each before going to the garage to get her car.
With no specific place in mind, Flick had simply been driving around just to enjoy the day. She rolled down her windows and put on some music, which she took pleasure in singing along too. The idea came to her that since she had grabbed not only her car and house key, but her dad's boat keys, she would go for a outing. Almost missing the turn, she pulled into the marina. Her dad let her take the boat out often, so she knew it wouldn't be a problem. Once having found a parking space, she took her keys and cell phone and walked to the boat that their family owned. Within moments, the man who was working shift came over to check that it was infact her boat, and she paid him the fee, then he was on his way. Deciding it would be best to run it by her dad, she pulled out her cell and gave him a quick call. "Hey dad? I'm at the marina.... Yeah.... Mhm... Okay... Thanks dad, see you later." She hung up the phone almost as fast as she had got it out, once he approved of her plan.
Now she simply had to get the boat ready to go out. It was a fair sized boat, and her dad was pretty proud of it. She knew if anything happened, she'd be in big trouble. Climing on the boat, she placed her keys down in a safe spot and took off her jacket and put it down too. Her cell phone was in her jacket pocket, so she didn't have to worry about that. Flick had to untie the boat, so she started back to the edge and stepped up to dock. The bottom surface of her sandal hit the wet dock and slipped, leaving Flick to fall flat on her face. Groaning, she pulled herself completely on the dock and sat up to make sure she was okay.
