if everyone cared and nobody cried, Anabel pulled a little blue beret on her blond head as she stood before the mirror in her shared bedroom with Jason. It was a cute addition she decided to her outfit, making the blue in her t-shirt pop. Slowly the daughter of a Spaniard ran her hands through her blond strands of hair. It was not as rare a thing as many thought for her to have such light colored hair with Spanish blood, and no doubt Annie was Spanish. Her gestures, her attitude about life, her passionate nature, yes, no doubt she was a Spanish girl. Half English yes, but that didn't really matter. Her identity was that she was Spanish and that was all that mattered. Giving a shrug and reaching for a bottle of Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely she spritzed herself and preened before the mirror for a moment before disappearing before its shiny surface and into her closet for shoes. It was a rare thing to see her in flats, but today she was indeed sliding her little feet into shoes that would not enhance her short five foot two stature in the slightest. Curling her toes in and then out inside the shoes she gave a little smile and nodded. Stepping out of the room and down the stairs into the foyer of the big house. She was sure there were people that assumed she was a gold-digger to be dating someone with as much money as Jason, afterall he did provide her the neccessities of food, a home, and shoes, a neccessity in Annie's mind, but it wasn't really how things were. Oh yes, Annie liked the presents and the luxury of living with him, but that had been the icing on the cake. It had not been an intentional find. Still, it did look that way, regretably, with her being only nineteen. It seemed odd that only their six-month anniversary was coming up, not some longer distance, but they had agreed to actually celebrate it and boost their morale. That was just Jason for you, not the type to roll his eyes and worry that she'd want to do it every year, which she wouldn't. And so she was going out to the mall to look for a present for him, and she knew just what she wanted to buy.
Dropping into the soft gray seat of her new shiny red 2010 Honda Insight Hybrid, she let out a little sigh. Thinking of Jason was always pleasant. She loved him, my how she did love him and the fact that getting engaged was completely off the map because of her mother and Jason and the whole Catholic question irked her. She wanted to marry him, of course, but making him change his faith was something she didn't really want to do. So something that had once seemed so in her hands was now a bit further away. Maybe it was for the better really. She still had a lot to learn about love and commitment and this way maybe they'd just have a shorter engagement or something. Still, that didn't make it any less of a blow. It seemed really very stupid to want something that really wouldn't change their relationship so badly. Shaking her head she shut the door to the car and started it, pressing the button for the garage to open. Turning on the radio it was tuned to a rock station and she increased the volume as she drove to Trolley Square. It was the best mall in Salt Lake, even after the shooting that had happened there a few years back.
It took her a few minutes of circling the parking lot before finding a spot and parking. Snatching her black bag she emerged from the pretty red car, running fingers through her long blond hair. Anabel loved her hair; in her vanity it was her favorite part of herself. She shook her head and smiled at her new car again. She loved it, she'd never owned so nice a car. Her last car had choked out one day, a couple weeks ago so it still had that new car smell and shine. Her flats smacking against the hot pavement. Annie had lived in Salt Lake for six years but the vast temperature differenced between winter and summer always amazed her. It the winter she could barely stay warm and in the summer she didn't really even want to bother putting clothes on because of how hot it was. Walking in the doors to the mall was pure relief as the cold air blew out the door the second she opened it. She let out a sigh of relief. Setting a hand on her bag she made a left into the flow of mall traffic. She was looking for the music store that Jason always went in when they came here. Her boyfriend loved music, listening to it, playing it, she knew she could find something he would like and she was ready to spend a good bit if she could make this little anniversary special. What else was she going to do with her money? Paying for her wedding dress was no longer a concern after all, at least not now. She passed the jewelry store where she knew Jason had bought their rings and shook her head with a bitter look and began to walk faster. Such was life.
The music store was not much farther away and she entered quickly beginning to look around for something, anything he might like. The shop owner seemed excited to see someone entering their business. Annie was sure that the little stores that sold CDs weren't doing so well. They couldn't compete with iTunes after all. Annie wouldn't even be here if she thought buying an iTunes giftcard wasn't so impersonal. She was looking for albums that would actually mean something and maybe something for his beloved piano or even that silly guitar he was so fond of. Brushing some hair behind her ear and giving her full bottom lip a little nibble she began to sort through the CDs. She didn't have any particular album in mind, obviously one he didn't have and something he would like, but that was her only criteria.

Tidal waves they, rip right through me.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jay kicked the back wheel of his Mini, making a frustrated noise then scowling. There was no-one around to witness this exchange of hostilities, but it was a grand gesture as far as jay was concerned. Exchange implies something two-way, and in this case, the car was exchanging Jay kicking it and scowling at it, for refusing to start. Now it has to be said, this was not entirely the car's fault. It may have had something to do with Jay iggnoring all suggestions to have the peculiar juddery noise in his engine, ignoring it until the fan belt snapped. The fan belt snapped?! That was soooo cliché! That was supposed to only happen in films, when a broken car was essential to the story line. Jay groaned, trying to think of a place he could get it repaired, or at least get a new belt, then he could look up how to do it on the internet. He walked back over to where he'd left the bonnet open, yanked the pole thing that holds the bonnet up, and slammed the thing down.
He walked back into the three bedroomed house and stomped upstairs. "You and the car having a lovers tiff?" His little brother went running off towards his bedroom, just incase Jay took a swing. "Piss off Jamie, or I'll run you over and cut you into a fanbelt." Jay growled at his little brother. His mum appeared at the top of the landing, in-keeping with her knack of appearing when there was an oppurtunity for Jay to be in trouble. "Language Jay," she reproved. "And how're you gonna run me over without a working car." Despite himself, Jay burst out laughing. "Smartass." he laughed.
He opened the door to his bedroom, stepped in and spotted his phone on the bedside table. He shut the door behind him, and went to look at it. New text message. Smiling he pressed his thumb to the touch-screen to open the message. It was from his friend sarah, back in michegan. They'd promised to keep in contact and stuff, but Jay realised, with a guillty stab, that he hadn't called or e-mailed or anything. He hit the reply button, then, tipping the phone sideways, selected the full-screen qwerty keyboard. Both his thumbs danced across the screen, typing out a reply about how it was in Utah, and how he missed her, and Jason, and Brad and all the others. He hit the send button, put the phone down and sighed. He really did miss them. Still he needed a new fan belt, and being nostalgic wouldn't fix that. He figured he might as well drive into town to try and find a place.
Jay lifted one arm and sniffed, and then grimaced, in an almost comical fasion, despite there being no-one there to see. He decided to go and jump in the shower, then he could head down into town. He was still new...he didn't wanna kill everyone with his atmosphere before he could say hi. He grabbed the towell hanging on the back of his door, and walked through to the bathroom, playfully pushing his little brother as he ran past. As he stepped into the room and locked the door, he smiled. His Brother was annoying, but could be alright at times.
Once he got back into his room, dried off and thrown a pair of boxers on, he was almost looking forward to finding out what the day was going to throw at him. He figured he'd drive into town, and jus wander about for a while. Jay dug out his straighteners, GHDs and began to do his hair, swearing whenever he burnt himself. Once he was done he blew a kiss to the mirrir. "Gorgeous hon," he told himself. He put a pair of jeans on, normal straight legged baggy jeans, admittedly riding very low, letting most of his ass hang out, but other than that looking more normal than his usual skinny jeans. It was hot outside, so Jay opted for a fairly tight white T-shirt. Tight could be flattering on him, if you went for skinny guys. However if you were into muscle bound hulks, then it showed he wasn't gonna do anything for you. It also meant you could just see faintly, the outline off the Batman logo, etched into his skin. The other drawback to T-shirts was that they left his scars on show. Howeever it had been a while since he'd cut himself, so he figured there was a chance that no-one would notice, and anyway it was a really hot day so he'd risk it. Plus it meant you could see the chinese symbols tattoo'd onto the inside of his wrists. At the height he was at it was unlikely andone would notice the red star, at the point where you couldn't decide if it was neck or shoulder. You never knew.
Jay headed outside, having got his mom's permission to use her car. Opening the door he grimaced. Poxy stereo didn't even have a jack, so he ran inside to grab a CD. He came out with a Madina Lake album, From them, through us, to you. He put the first track, Here I stand, on and set off. Music in the car was great and could only be beaten by one thing. Singing along with the music, nice and loud. Sure the wind from the open window messed his hair up a bit, but Jay hoped that would just give him a windswept look. He automaticly reached down the driver's door compartment for his sunglasses, only to remember they were back in his car. "Aww crap," he muttered.
Once Jay got into town, he noticed the mall. He decided that his car could wait a few hours, and pulled into the parking lot. As he sat waiting for some old dear, he thought back to hearing about some kind of shooting that had happened at the mall. Ah well, he thought. Lightening never strikes twice. Once he got parked up, he turned the music off, stepped out and headed inside. Once he got into the place, and looked around, he realised he didn't have a clue what he was doing. Then he saw it. A music shop, but even better, a little, run-down looking place. He walked over to it, and in through the door, all thoughts of his car vanishing from his mind.
In his excitement he saw a girl he recognised. But she couldn't be here. However, Jay's habit of saying without thinking kicked in. "Sarah?! he exclaimed. Then he looked at the girl again, noticing the different colour eyes, the different nose shape. There wasn't even anyone else to pretend he'd been talking to. "I'm real sorry," he said to the girl. Aw shit, he thought. Now she's gonna think i'm a nutcase. Stop talking to her! His brain screamed at him. "You look like someone- I mean you remind me of- I mean...I'm Jay," he finally finished, grinning bashfully. Yeah, his brain told him. That proved you're sane!

if everyone cared and nobody cried, With her long blond hair hanging over her shoulders and around her face, Annie could look like pretty much any short blond. While normally her style was bold, her black skinny jeans, clinging tee shirt, and flats made her look rather 2007 and for once she blended in with everyone else that had yet to abandon the emo look for scene, a change Annie tended to think would be frowned upon by her boyfriend. The sight of Annie with choppy black hair and a septum piercing would fast send Jason out the door. Of course she liked to think him not so superficial and in reality she didn't know what he would do, what he would say, but she wasn't about to test it. Her hair was one of the things she loved and took pride in and after seven tatoos and three piercings she was rather content to never see another needle headed her way.
There were many names Annie would respond to: Anabel, Ana, Annie, Belle, even silly nicknames like Banana would turn her head. Sarah, however, was not one of them. As she heard a boy's voice exclaim the name Sarah she waited to hear some reply, really rather disinterested in who Sarah was. After living with two quad mates named Sarah she was sick of the name Sarah. Gazing at Lady Gaga's CD that she truthfully only wanted for herself she finally looked up, a bit curious to rather there was a schitzophrenic in the store. A pair of anxious blue eyes rimmed with guyliner were on her, coming from a boy with black hair she suspected was dyed. He was tall, even at the distance he stood from her her head was already elevated a bit.
With a slightly humored little twist to her lips she shook her head a bit at his face that had lost its enthusiasm with the turn of her head. She lifted her shoulders and dropped them when he said he was really sorry, "It's fine." She suspected that was the end of their encounter and was about to go back to looking at the CDs, but for whatever reason he didn't stop talking to her. Blabbering and coming off like quite the silly boy she found his little embarassed smile and hasty introduction adorable in a most endearing way. Her lips curling a bit more she otherwise hid her amusement at his oration, "Anabel," she cooed in reply, a fondness for this odd character already in her voice, "But people call me Sarah all the time." It was a jest, she didn't mean it seriously.
She took in his face, the straight cut of his nose and piercing blue shade of his eyes. Always one to be drawn to beautiful people she definitely was taking a liking, despite the snakebite piercing that to Annie was not an attractive piercing at all, especially on someone with as nice a face as his. She wouldn't get one herself nor was she fond of them on others. Really, any facial piercings were disliked by her. Her ears were just the normal one per ear that she'd had since she was six and her belly button piercing she thought exotic and pretty, but also tiny and hidden beneath her clothes. Almost no one knew about it aside from Jason and in perfect honesty a few exes. She wouldn't want something so obvious that people were always staring at it, especially any future employers. And anyway, she intended to work with the elderly, no doubt they would disapprove.
Glancing back down at the CDs in the bin she flicked past Lady Gaga, continuing their conversation with only half her attention devoted, as she tended to do. It was not meant to be rude, more of a habit she'd picked up as a child from her father. "So, Jay," she began as she continued to search through the L artists, feeling a bit odd adressing him by the same petname she used for Jason, "Who is this Sarah I so resemble?" Anabel could talk to anyone with ease, an absolute extrovert. Conversation and chatter came easy to her. Her open face seemed to invite people to talk to her anyway, she often didn't have to do anything to begin a conversation.

Jay smiled at Anabel, pleased she hadn't run screaming. She seemed to think he was cute, but in apuppy dog kinda way, that was the impression he got. 'People call me Sarah all the time.' Jay smiled again, but more bashfully this time, and twirled the lip rings around inside their holes. He studied Anabel. He could draw all the comparisons between her and Sarah. Anabel was pretty though. Very. He put on a fake pout. "I said i'm sorry. Gooooood" he moaned, drawing the word out in a typical spoiled teenager way, but then grinned again to show he was joking.
