'CAUSE I DON'T WANNA SEE YOU AND ME going our seperate ways
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a moment, Jason wondered why he had got a dog when he was always so worried about her scratching up the leather in his new car, but that fleeting thought disappeared when she looked up at him with her blue eye and her brown eye, his heart melting at her happy look. Dash always looked so happy. A small smile crossed his face as he set her blanket down on his passenger’s seat, just a little extra padding to keep her claws from roughing up his seat, and let her jump right in. He was careful not to shut her leash in the door as he closed it, walking around to the other side of the car.
The trip to the shelter had been heart wrenching, tearing apart what was left of his heart. All of the dogs there looked so sad, but almost hopeful when they saw someone new walking through, like they knew with every person that came through they had a chance of finding a new home. There had been so many dogs there; he hadn’t really expected that. The puppies had been adorable, of course, stealing his heart as soon as he saw them and he had been so tempted to get one, but he knew that they would be the first ones to go, that they’d be the easy ones to adopt out. It was the older dogs that people didn’t want because they weren’t as cute as the puppies. Dash had caught his eye when he walked past her small kennel, though, and the volunteer he had been talking to laughed. Her words sent a chill through him and he still remembered them like it had been yesterday as she explained Dash’s story. “Dash is a sweetheart, but she‘s got a ton of energy. Her owners were moving and they couldn‘t take her to the apartment they found. She‘s only a year old, but she looks full grown. Between that and all of her energy, nobody really wants to take her, poor girl. If she‘s not adopted by the end of the day, we have to put her down…” Of course he had taken her out to play with her and decided to take her home. It just didn’t seem right that something so sweet wasn’t going to live just because she wasn’t a baby.
Rolling down the window on the dog’s side so she could stick her head out the window, he couldn’t help but laugh as he looked at how silly she looked with her ears and her long hair blowing back, her lips flapping around. He had been happier having Dash around, that was for sure, though it wasn’t anywhere near as happy as he had been when it was Ana sharing his bed. It was Ana who had indirectly influenced him to get a pet, actually. After the beach party when she had seen him at his absolute worst, way worse than she had ever imagined seeing him and she had taken his drunken butt home, she had stayed over night, surprising him when he finally went down to his kitchen the next morning. She had basically said he needed to get himself straightened out and he knew she was right. He figured having some sort of responsibility other than himself and school work would help him stay sober, so he decided to go out and get a pet; what could be a better responsibility than having something you had to feed, water and play with on a daily basis?
He was almost sad when they arrived at the park, the short drive over and he rolled the window up slowly, careful not to catch any of the aussie’s long fur in it as he did. It was a nice day, so the park was obviously busy and it took him a few moments to find a parking place, laughing as Dash wagged her tail excitedly; she knew they were some place new and she couldn’t wait to get out and explore. The smile was still in place as he hopped out, opening the over-excited dog’s door and grabbing her leash before she could go too far. The volunteer at the shelter hadn’t been kidding when she said this dog had a lot of energy. Locking the car behind him, he grinned, looking down at the bouncy bundle of fur. “Come on, Dash. Heel.” He couldn’t see why people didn’t want to adopt older dogs, especially ones that had to be given up due to financial or housing issues; they were already at least someone trained. She knew all of the basics; come, sit, heel and of course her name. Though she didn’t always come when she was off the leash and over excited.
He couldn’t help but laugh again as she danced around him, taking in all of the new sights she saw. He wondered if her other owners had ever brought her here before. Obviously they had to take her to some kind of park, didn’t they? From what he understood, she had been owned by a married couple, their eight year old daughter and their five year old twin boys. She obviously had a great temperament, being around the young kids like that. It probably made fun summer picnics, having three kids, the person you loved and the family pet out in the park. The image in his mind of the happy family send a slight pang through his heart, knowing he wasn’t going to have that now, at least not in the way he had seen it. He definitely wasn’t interested in a relationship right now and he doubted he would be for a while. It would have to be someone really special or, well, Ana to change his mind.
The thoughts were pushed from his mind when he felt a sharp tug on the end of the bright blue leash and then nothing and he looked to the end of the leash to see his dog was missing, running off in the other direction after a startled looking squirrel that started zig-zagging towards the closest tree. It was a rather amusing sight to see, but he had to get Dash back. That little ball of energy could probably go for hours if she felt like it and he didn’t really feel like chasing after her. “Dash, come,” he called, knowing it was hopeless. Anytime she was distracted by something as fun as a squirrel, it was like she went temporarily deaf. Sighing inwardly, he chuckled humorlessly to himself, glad he had decided against wearing flip flops; it looked like he was going for a run today.

Day had been working out a lot lately. Trying to get your mind off someone took a lot of work, and she was doing her best. She was taking a walk in the park today. There was nothing like fresh air to try and make you think of something else besides a black-haired beauty with beautiful, deep brown eyes. Sighing a little, she looked around a little. It was a beautiful day. It was pretty hot, but there was a breeze that was blowing by and it felt very nice. There were families out and about, little kids giggling and chasing others around. It was all so sweet, to see things like a family on an outing that they were having just so much fun at. There was one family that caught her attention. Sitting on a park bench, she watched them as a blonde mom sat by her husband, who was scarily a dark-haired handsome man with this look in his eye that you could see the proud and happiness that poured from them. They had three kids, two toddlers that were skipping around and laughing. And the other was a little baby that the mother held. She was looking down at it with such love and devotion it was enough to make you want to break down it tears.
Day couldn’t help but smile. The sweetness of the moment was something that not many could watch and not be able to smile or laugh with them at some point. The love that seemed to surround them was something that everyone had to want one way or another. It was hard to imagine someone so vile that they wouldn’t want someone to love them like this family did to each other. Smiling a little again, Day got up finally and started to walk again. The paths were nice and clean, they were all so worn from being walked on so much. It gave Day a cool feeling like she could be walking the same path that some great could have walked the same one. It was just a cool feeling. Closing her eyes a moment, she smiled a little as the wind blew her blonde hair back. Being summer, her red hair had lightened up a little, and it had looked peachy. Honestly, Day didn’t like that. So she’d gone and dyed it how she used to have it done, her blonde hair that people were actually used to since just recently she’d gone back to her natural look.
She felt better today than she had in a good while. She was actually smiling today, a real and honest smile. It did help that she was in a happy place. The park was always happy, it seemed. With the bright sun making the trees a vibrant green and all the smiling, happy faces. It was just a fun experience. She felt sort of like a kid again, since the park brought back memories of when she and her mom had come to the park. It had always been so much fun. Riding bikes, having a picnic where they told so many jokes they would end up laughing until they cried. All so many great memories. Actually, she remembered once when she and Jason had come here when they had been dating. How it seemed no where could not be a memory of him. They had had a picnic and it had been so much fun. Not to mention all of the laughing that had been involved. She remembered how they had told corny jokes, eaten sandwiches and just sat there and talked. Huh, if only it would still be that easy.
Being in love with someone that didn’t love you was hard. To feel like no one did was even harder. Day didn’t really have any family. No, not ‘didn’t really’. She just didn’t. She had no parents, no siblings. Sure, she had friends, but the one that had been the most important had used her to get away from his own misery. Her, being completely blind and dumb, had shown him that she loved him and he had ended up regretting it more than anything. Life wasn’t fair. It wasn’t easy. It just got harder and harder when really it should have just gotten easier. College itself was hard, but it wasn’t he work and all of that. It was the drama and all the hardship that came with it. Sighing a little, she took out her camera and zoomed it in. It was a lot of fun to zoom it in all the way and just see what popped in the sight range. She took a picture of the family, she just loved the way the adoration could show up in a picture. Then, turning her torso she looked through the lens to see what she would find. It was also cool since you saw things so much differently through it.
Before she knew it, she was looking at a dog. It was a very beautiful dog, with one brown eye and one blue. It seemed young, and it had a lot of energy, so it seemed. Before she knew it she was capturing the liveliness of the cute Australian Shepherd, or at least she thought that was what it was, and it actually took her a moment to process that it wasn’t attached to anything. That the cute little dog was runny free, not on a person’s hand. Looking around, she didn’t see anyone that seemed to be running in pursuit. Before she knew it she actually saw the dog run almost strait at her, and really she didn’t know what she was doing but she started patting her legs and making cooing noises. It actually surprised her when it looked at her and made it’s way over, seeming to almost smile with mischief. Day laughed a little at the liveliness, and started to pet her. She was sure an owner would come eventually. Not wanting the poor thing to get bored, she grabbed her leash and took a stick, starting to play tug-of-war. Why she did it she didn’t know, but she started to feel a happiness that made her feel warm and fuzzy almost inside.
Smiling a little, she started to pet her and took her tags. “Dash” it said. Well, that seemed like a really good name actually. ”Well, Dash, it is a pleasure to meet you.” She laughed a little, and then looked at the back at the address. ”Crap.” Of course. Of course. Why did that always have to happen to her. Clenching her teeth a little, she got up and brushed off the dirt since she had gotten on all fours to play. Standing up, she bit her lip and looked around. Making sure she had a good hold on Dash, she looked around for his handsome, sweet face that she honestly wanted to see and didn’t want to see at the same time. Finally it came into view, and she waved a little to catch his attention, wondering what the thoughts that went through his mind would be. Meeting him half way, she had to smile a little. “Soo…did you lose anything?” It was uncomfortable, since the last time she had seen him she had run from his room with just putting her shirt on. Biting her lip, her uncomfortableness great stronger. This was weird, way weird, and she had no idea what she was going to do.
Words; one two seven three Clothes; Here! =D Comments; Huh, that isnt too bad. Hope you can work with it.

'CAUSE I DON'T WANNA SEE YOU AND ME going our seperate ways
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shaking his head as he jogged down the path where that bundle of fuzz had bolted after the squirrel, he couldn’t help but wonder what he was getting himself into, getting a pet. She was wonderful and with her around, it was easier to push aside the temptation to go buy some sort of alcohol and just go back to his depressed state, though sometimes the temptation was incredibly strong. If he couldn’t keep a hold of the leash in the park when she got excited to see a squirrel, how was he suppose to actually take care of her, though? He couldn’t help but laugh as the image Dash trying to climb a tree after the squirrel popped into his mind. She was a handful, that was for sure, but it was nice to have something that seemed to love him and something he could love in return without worrying about it hurting him. Unless she got loose and got hit by a car, of course. Then he’d just be back to square one all over again. Saving the silly dog from her death at the pound and then just leading it to her a different way, yeah, he could see that happening.
He took a few deep breaths as he ran, already starting to be winded. Lounging around for the past two months on his couch in his depression hadn’t been good for him, especially when he had a bottle of some sort in his hand. And it’s not like he had worked out obsessively before then. Ever since the wreck he had only gone for a couple runs and only one of them long distance. Of course, he had literally passed out from exhaustion that time. Underneath of a tree in this exact park and since then, he hadn’t really wanted to go for a run.
His steps slowed as he panted, shaking his head, irritated with himself. Scanning the park, he looked around for a grayish blur bouncing around some little kid or attacking some teenager with kisses. His dark eyes stopped on a family, a dark haired man and a pretty, blonde woman and their two kids. No, three kids. The man was holding a little baby in his arms with the happiest look on his face, like everything in his life was perfect, like nothing could get better than that moment. The other two were toddlers, looking thrilled as they chased each other around under their mother’s watchful eye. The scene was beautiful, perfect and Jason seemed to feel his heart snap right back in half as he looked at it.
The young man pulled his eyes away from the happy family, still feeling the aching in his chest as he picked up his pace again, returning to the task of hunting down his crazy ball of fur. He was beginning to wonder why he had chosen to wear a black shirt when he knew it would be hot; it was late July in Utah, of course it was scorching. Even with the front unbuttoned, revealing a white tank top, he was already sweating. He had a feeling if he had no shirt on and was just standing there he’d be sweating anyways, but running wasn’t helping at all.
He finally caught sight of his little dog and slowed to a walk, seeing someone had a hold of the leash. Apparently they knew him, he realized, as he saw her wave. When he realized who exactly it was, he hesitated, a million emotions flickering across his face. Hurt, joy, shame, happiness, guilt. Even with his eyes shielded with his reflective sunglasses, they all were there, clearer than day. At least he was sober. When he had seen Ana for the first time, he had already been into the alcohol they sold at the beach and with her there, right next to him, it didn’t take him long to get himself completely trashed . Of course she had been right when she said it didn’t work; he knew that, but for some reason, once he had started, he didn’t stop, even when he woke up the next morning half dead.
Finally, he caught up to the two, his gaze avoiding Dahlia’s as he crouched down next to Dash, rubbing her ears gently. An awkward laugh slipped from him at her question, knowing she must have looked at the tags. “Yeah. Uh, thanks,” he murmured uneasily, a small smile crossing his face as he took the blue leash from her gratefully, wrapping it around his left wrist. He inhaled sharply, wincing as Dash pulled on it, tugging on the wrist he never got looked at after falling down the stairs and landing on it. It still hurt from time to time, especially when it was bumped or he moved it the wrong way. Shifting the leash from his left hand to his right, he cringed again, rubbing the wrist for a short moment before dropping it to his side.
A shiver ran up his spine as he finally looked over at Day, glad he had sunglasses on. The last time he had seen her, they had been wrapped up in his bed, thanks to his stupid self. He still wondered how far he would have let himself go if Ana hadn’t walked in on them, if he would have woken up the next morning with his ex next to him or if he would have come to his senses, pulling away from her before it got that far. It was almost a good thing he didn’t know the answer and never would.
Chewing on his bottom lip, he looked down at the dog again, knowing he didn’t look the same as the last time she had seen him. He had put some of his weight back on, though after that night he had dropped a lot more. If she had thought he was skinny when she had rested her body on his, she should have seen him a month after that. He felt so terrible, he couldn’t eat anything without throwing it right back up, though that could have also had something to do with the alcohol in his system. He knew he still had dark circles under his eyes from the lack of sleep; it seemed like they’d never go away, but they were hidden underneath of his glasses, at least for the moment.
Sighing uneasily, he shifted his weight from foot to foot, fidgeting with his end of Dash’s leash as he looked back up at her, another shiver sliding up his spine as the memory of that night flooded back into his mind. He fought away the image of her topless figure straddling him and closed his eyes for a moment, trying to collect himself. Another sigh slipped from him and a small, uneasy smile crossed his face. “So, how-uh, what have you been up to?” he asked slowly, not quite sure if he wanted to know the answer to the first question he had been going to ask. After it was out of his mouth, he kind of wished he had asked the first question that popped in his mind; he really didn't want to explain what he had gotten into since the last time she had seen him. Then again, he could beat around the bush with that. If she asked him why he had got a dog, that's when he'd just have to face up to his mistakes in the last two months. The temptation of stopping at the store and buying a large bottle of whiskey on the way home suddenly overwhelming and he doubted his self control would be enough to stop the temptation this time.

Dahlia couldn’t help but suddenly feel so much better. He had, after all, always been her best friend. It made her feel bad that they were both so uncomfortable. She wanted for him to know that she was there for him…and she felt worse that she hadn’t been. She had been hiding in her room, running from her problems because she was too much of a coward to get over it. Now, she felt horrible and worthless. What kind of a friend was she? The one that wasn’t even there for them when they deserved it, when they needed it most.
She couldn’t help but think of the fact that he had used her. But she couldn’t deny that she had wanted him to in a way. Because she loved him. She had for the longest time. But lately, she had really been just wanting to see him because she didn’t want him to be alone. She was sick of it. Maybe she wasn’t really in love with him, maybe she just needed someone that was her friend and only her friend. And Jason had been trying to do that the entire time. Maybe she had been completely not seeing it right. Like, she didn’t really love him. She just wanted to be with him because he was the only one who knew her. The only one that she could spill to and know that he would be there for her no matter what. Jason had always been able to do that, why was she denying that?
She smiled a little as he took the leash, and she bent down to scratch Dash behind the ears. Smiling more, she looked up at him with her blue eyes, for once nothing but friendship in them. “So you look a lot better… Really, you do.” She only said that because she knew what he would say. Smiling crookedly, she snuggled Dash’s face. She was really cute. “Anyway, since when did you get a dog?” Smiling up at him, she felt a little better. Sure, it was really weird, but she really just wanted it to be better between them. Yes, she had to admit that the last time they had seen each other it had been horrible and wrong. And that was both of their faults, but she had to admit that she really just needed to get over it. It was time to forgive and forget.
It was hard to do that, though. She had really been hurt when he had used her. But in a way, she felt like she had used him too. So she needed to just see that it was time to show him that she was going to forget that. Standing up, she put her hands on her hips and looked at him. “So where have you been? I haven’t heard from you in forever. What are you going to do-just ditch me?” It was a teasing look in his eye, not at all mean. She laughed a little bit, hoping that he would understand and not take it wrong. Then again, he knew her more than anyone. Shaking her head at him, she smiled crookedly to his lip biting. He was so uncomfortable, she felt bad. There had to be some what to make it better.
Finally she was sick of it. She stepped up and wrapped her arms around him. “Gosh, I’ve missed you. Don’t do that again, please?” You could tell there was a earnest tone in it, and it was true. Sure, it was horrible. And no, she couldn’t lie. She had to admit that she probably did love him. Not that she wanted to admit it. It was hard not to love him, though. He was sweet and funny, and she just got along with him really well. But she knew that she needed to stop. Who knew how, but she was going to have to. Taking a deep breath, she stepped back, looking at him. He really did look better, and maybe she would feel better when she would quit loving him. When she could.
Words; seven hundred sharp - smack me please. Clothes; Here! =D Comments; Gosh, that is really bad isn't it? I'm so sorry... I hope you can post to it easy. Is that realistic at all? Arg, sorry again.

'CAUSE I DON'T WANNA SEE YOU AND ME going our seperate ways
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shrugging, he glanced away when she said he looked better. Sure, since she had last seen him maybe, but after that he had dropped a lot more of his weight and he was only now beginning to get it back. And after he had ran after Dash, he figured he needed to start going for runs again; it was annoying to only run a few steps and be out of breath. A small smile crossed his face when he watched her snuggle up with Dash, the dog seeming to smile as she always did. Biting his lip for a moment after her question, he sighed quietly. “I needed some sort of responsibility to keep me sober,” he mumbled so quietly, she probably wouldn’t pick it up, but in the next beat before she could even say anything, his tone was back to normal, well, sort of. Back to where it had been lately, at least. “Eh, I went to the shelter a week or two ago and they were going to put her down at the end of the day. I couldn‘t let that happen, so she came home with me,” he explained, glancing down at the little dog, smiling. Just because she wasn’t a puppy people didn’t want her and he found that just terrible. She was a sweetheart, that was for sure.
Surprise overtook him as she put her hands on her hips, the look in her eyes clearly teasing. Sighing again, he looked down at Dash who was now smelling something else on the side of the path. “I didn‘t think you would want to see me…” he murmured, glancing at her sideways. He hadn’t gone out of his way to see her or Ana; he felt terrible just thinking about them. It was all of his fault that they both hurt as they did. He had taken Day’s kiss way too far and he couldn’t let it go. Glancing up at her and biting his lip, he sighed. “Besides, I don‘t think you want to know where I‘ve been,” he said, laughing slightly, but it was an awkward, uncomfortable laugh. She really wouldn’t want to hear that he had spent most of his evening and nights in a disgusting club, drinking the time away.
When she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him, he froze in shock, definitely not expecting that. If he had expected to get anything, it would have been a smack across the face. It only took a split second for him to snap out of it, though, and he wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her tightly, still gripping Dash’s leash firmly in case she decided to take off again. He sighed deeply at her words, nodding his head. He wasn’t planning on sleeping with anyone for a very long time, if ever again, though after Ana, the whole no-sex thing wasn’t exactly enjoyable. “I won‘t,” he murmured quietly. “And I‘m so, so sorry. I was so stupid…” he sighed again as she stepped away. Even with his eyes shielded, it was quite clear that he still felt terrible about what he did.
His gaze dropped to the ground again and he shifted his weight from foot to foot, chewing on his lip again. “Do, uh, do you wanna go for a walk?” he asked slowly. “I mean, Dash already got her exercise, but now that I‘m off of the couch, well…I suppose I need to.” Laughing slightly, he sighed yet again. How he wished he could take what he did back. Invent a time machine or something and go back and remove the key from his plants or something. No, what was done was done and there was nothing he could do to change it.

His little shrug had been what Day had expected. She held back a laugh, and looked into the beautiful eyes of Dash. She really was a doll. Smiling again, she snuggled her little face in her arms, but made sure to be gentle. The last thing she needed was to bug the cute little thing. After a while she kissed the top of her head, but didn’t hear his little murmur. Her story made her frown, but after a moment she stood up and smiled. “Well you picked a good one. Nice job.” It was a half tease, half serious. Either way you looked at it it would fit. Patting the cute little dogs’ head gently she fully straitened up and watched the surprise on Jason’s face.
Well, it didn’t surprise her that he was surprised. He was just one of those people. He really was too sweet. The murmur made her frown, but she shook her head. “Of course I want to see you…” It was in a whisper, and she was looking down at the ground. Finally she looked up with her eyes, keeping her head down though. She didn’t know what this made her look like, and what it did was make her long eyelashes show a lot to make a puppy-dog face. But of this she wasn’t aware, and she was going on about a small moment later. “You’re my best friend.” It was true though. No matter what could ever happen she knew that he would always be her friend. He was her real only best friend, and she couldn’t happen but feel he was the only one she wanted to be.
For a moment she didn’t really even notice the shock that overtook him when she embraced him, but she did notice when his arms wound around her and he squeezed her tightly. Sure, most wouldn’t think this was very comfortable, but it almost felt like he was holding her together. It felt good. Smiling, she rubbed his back a little, and when they separated after a long moment and he spoke, she shook her head and said, “Shush. No. It’s in the past, Jason. You can’t change it. Forgive and forget, ok?” The first two words were demands a little, and then the rest was calm and sweeter. Smiling then, she watched him with her sincere eyes when she said, “It’s what you do.” She couldn’t help but this of Ana. She wished she hadn’t done it now. Then Jason would be so much happier… and then nothing would be so hard. Nothing would be painful and they would all be happy and cheerful. It wouldn’t be awkward and confusing. Everything would be so much better. She guess that was when ‘you don’t always get what you wish for’ came in.
Sighing a little, she smiled and nodded at his suggestion. Right then, all she wanted was to have things back how they used to be. He was her best friend, after all. Laughing with him, she nodded, “Yeah, you aren’t the only one that’s been lazy.” It was true, from her sitting on her bed and not doing anything. Fiddling with her camera, she smiled and nodded towards it. “You should see some of the pictures I’ve gotten. Been pretty good lately.” Smiling crookedly, she couldn’t help but show pride on her camera work. She’d always loved photography. Lately she’d been a little away from it, but she attacked it today. She’d missed it. Smiling as she walked, she watched Jason from the corner of her eye. She really hoped that it would all be ok soon. It was hard enough to be alone. And she was sick of it. Jason was almost all she had, and she had to hold on to him. Even if he wasn’t what she’d originally intended, it was ok. As long as he was there in her life some way or other… she guessed it would be ok. Well, it had to be one way or another.
Words; 669 - sorry, it's all I've got. =[ Clothes; Here! =D Comments; sorry it took so long! -sigh- Day muse is always so small.

'CAUSE I DON'T WANNA SEE YOU AND ME going our seperate ways
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Raising his eyebrows, he laughed slightly at her puppy dog like face. It wasn’t the laugh she was use to, that was for sure. It was weaker and not as deep or as warm as it use to be. At times, it almost sounded hollow. To someone who hadn’t known him a few months ago, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal, they wouldn’t pick up on it, but to a friend, a close friend at that, it would definitely sound different. He sighed and shook his head when she said he was her best friend, his eyes dropping back down to his little dog as something caught her eye and she wagged her tail ferociously. “I didn‘t act like it. I acted like…like,” he sighed, his voice going from hurt to bitter as he remembered what Ana had said. “like some sex happy bastard.” Okay, only the last word had been Ana’s, but every since she said it, he thought she was right. Yes, it hurt when she said it and it still hurt now, but he knew he deserved it. It was actually pretty mild, really. She could have said so much more, done something much worse than scream at him.
He felt her fingers against his back and he sighed quietly; he didn’t deserve this. Not at all. It would have felt so much better if she had smacked him, or something along those lines anyways. A hug just felt so out of place after he used her just so he wouldn’t hurt anymore and what had happened? Now every day, the hurt look on her face and on Anabel’s face would be there, greeting him first thing in the morning, burned in his mind for the whole day and haunting him in his dreams. He didn’t understand how she could just forgive him like that. He stopped at her firm words, his head tilting slightly to the right in curiosity, a bitterly ironic look crossing his face when she said forgive and forget and he looked away from her, his gaze behind her and along the path. After a moment, he glanced back at her then dropped his gaze down on Dash again. “Yeah, well, I can‘t forgive myself so I don‘t see how you do it so easily,” he muttered, still thrown off by how willing she was to forget what he had done to her.
He smiled slightly as she agreed to go for a walk, tugging on Dash’s leash gently and starting down the path as they continued to talk. A short, slightly sarcastic chuckle slipped from him when she said he wasn’t the only one who had been lazy. “Well at least all you‘ve been doing is lounging around,” he said quietly, knowing it was only a matter of time until she found out he had turned into an alcoholic for a couple months, whether it was from him, word of mouth at the school or that stupid gossip site if she even went on it. “Well you‘ll have to show me sometime,” he said with a small smile. “I never got my other picture I was suppose to,” he joked slightly, though he was completely set on paying. That’s why he hadn’t got his other one for his living room, she was asking way too little for it. He had looked around for a painting for quite some time; there was this one wall in his living room that looked a little bare and he found a couple things he liked, but not as much as her photos and they were always much more expensive.
He grew quiet as they walked, his eyes on the ground in front of him. Wrapping the leash around his left wrist without really thinking and he glanced over at Day then back at the ground, guilt still eating away at him. He just couldn’t get why she was so forgiving and why Anabel still cared so much about him. If it weren’t for his ex, there was a good chance he’d be dead from alcohol poisoning or some alcohol related incident. Dash jumped forward, excited about something and he winced as he felt the sharp tug on his broken wrist. Switching the leash back over to his other hand, he sighed and glanced over at Day again. “So, uh, what have you been up to? Other than your photography,” he asked slowly, the pain from Dash’s tug on his wrist in his voice as he rubbed it, wincing again.
